Frequently Asked Questions

For many of you this is the first time you have had to book
entertainment for an event. It can be a learning
experience, which is why I have put together a list of the most
commonly asked questions:
How much do you
charge?
My rates vary on the date,
location and type of event. A basic 3 hour day time wedding
reception with sound system and no lighting starts at $500. Night time receptions start at $825 for 4
hours. For pricing on Proms, school formals,
birthday parties, reunions and corporate events please fill out the online
contact form or call me at 315-941-0207. I understand that my pricing is higher than that of
some other DJ companies. However, I believe we offer distinctive
value and provide the highest level of personalized service.
How far will you
travel?
The majority of my events are booked in Central New York: I
entertain
in Utica, Rome, Whitesboro, New Hartford, Ilion and Vernoa on a regular
basis. I have and will travel anywhere in the North East and
beyond. (I have played Syracuse, Albany, Rochester, Lake Placid, Old
Forge and Saratoga Springs in the past two years).
What does your services
include?
- An interactive evening of music and dancing using
a professional sound system with interactive
lighting and special effects.
- Kenny The Promo Guy (myself) serving as your emcee
and host of the evening events
- Wide variety of music to suit you and your guests
(clean, edited music from 40's to today)
- Pre-Event Consultation that includes customization
and planning of your special day
- Online event planning including selection of songs
you want and don't want played
- Set-up and tear down time is included in your
total price
- Most importantly a piece of mind know that you
have a true professional who will do everything to make your event as stress free as possible. I pride myself
on not missing events and creating a night of fun your guests won't forget.
Why do you charge
less than some and more than others in town?
Sure there are plenty of cheaper
DJ's in town however I recently read
4 out of 5 guests reported the thing they remembered
most about a wedding was the entertainment.
Additionally, 82% percent of brides said they would
spend more money to ensure they had outstanding
entertainment at their wedding.
I charge more than your average DJ
company because I believe we are anything but
average. Between our professional service and
equipment to our extensive attention to detail, we
strive to make your event elegant and classy.
You are paying for unique and special services from
an experienced individual. This is not to
sound cocky or arrogant but to let you know we are
not some fly by night company.
I don't cut corners in my equipment,
my music, my time, my services or my attire. Only
you can decide your wedding budget and only you can
determine how to allocate that budget. It's
your choice but be sure to make an informed
decision.
How do you describe
your style?
Classy, stylish, professional and fun DJ entertainment
personalized to meet the needs of you and your guests. Call me
and we can discuss how my style may suit your event.
How are you
different?
You deal directly with
me, your actual DJ, from day one. I don't delegate the actual
performing of your event to anyone else. I am there with you and for
you every step of the way. I meet with you in person and I am
available anytime, 7 days a week for consultations by phone or via
email. I will offer you suggestions and work with you to make
your event unique. Customer service is a top priority for me. I also
feel with over 15 years entertaining people and working with music, I have a distinct
knowledge others may not have. Most entertainers will inflict
their personality into your event. My goal is to inflict your
personality into your event.
Can I meet with you?
Definitely! I encourage
you to meet or talk with me before you book your event as this will
determine if I am a good fit for your needs. If you decide to
book my services we can decide when to set up additional meetings to
discuss the specific details of your event.
Can I make requests
and offer music suggestions?
Through use of our
online planner and music database of over 60,000 songs you will can
choose whatever songs you would like played and what ones you would
not like played. If you are not computer savvy you can write your
song list on a piece of paper or email it to me. Your guests
can make requests thru our online guest request page and of course
requests are available the day or night of your event too!
Can I See You
Perform?
This is always a tricky
question to answer. If I am performing at a public event YES.
If I am performing at a private function like a wedding, corporate
event or school formal/event the answer is NO. When I am I am
hired I am there to work and perform for the bride and groom or
client, not my next sale. Plus, everyone has a different
idea of what they want their event to be like and what one client
likes you may not.
Will you bring
back-up gear to my event?
Yes, I will. I
bring extra speakers, an extra mixing board, extra computer, extra
amplifier, extra cd player and extra microphone to your event.
I travel with my truck and trailer to 99% of my events so I can load
back-up gear without a problem.
What Do You Wear?
I am professionally dressed for every event I perform at.
No jeans with holes or shirts with stains on them. If you
would like us to be "dressed down" at your event, we can discuss
that when we meet or talk on the phone.
How much set-up time do you need?
I prefer to have 90 minutes lead time before an event but
understand at some venues that is not possible due to an event
earlier in the day, etc, etc. I can be set-up in as little as
20 minutes but prefer a 60-90 minute window. If a venue is
free earlier in the day I prefer to set-up then head home to shower,
enjoy a good meal and then head back to you event.
Do You Provide Us
With A Contract?
Yes, I work under contract with all clients and require a
percentage of your total price to be used as a non-refundable
retainer fee for my services. I will e-mail or mail you a contract
that must be returned along with the retainer fee within 14 days
from when it is sent.
